mapema Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Category: White Wine
Varietal:Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Argentina » Mendoza » Tupungato
Producer: mapema
Alcohol: 13.5%

This loveable white starts out with enticing aromas of fresh herbs, subtle red grapefruit, and a hint of blossom honey. Once you swirl it around your mouth, you'll get a blast of lemon zest acidity along with lemongrass and a slightly creamy texture. This wine delivers a lot of body without losing its lively acidity, and the crisp finish doesn't keep this wine from lingering on your palate. Great all by itself, but this one will match up nicely with grilled tuna and swordfish, seared scallops, mussels, sautéed white-flesh fish like sole, or even lighter chicken dishes.

Wine Advocate

There is little Sauvignon Blanc coming out of Argentina but Mapema's 2009 Sauvignon Blanc is a fine one by any standard. The wine was aged predominantly in stainless steel but 10% of the wine was aged in new French oak for 3 months. It offers up an excellent bouquet of fresh herbs, citrus, and floral aromas leading to a spicy, savory, concentrated Sauvignon with impeccable balance and plenty of length. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
