Archery Summit

This wine opens with an intense perfume of ripe Oregon blackberries, fresh blueberries, violet and nag champa incense. A complex wine of many layers, it delivers additional nuances of lilac, allspice, marzipan, and rich black cherry upon the second swirl. The palate is equally dense and intense, presenting hints of dark chocolate, ginger and peat surrounding a vibrant dark cherry core. Succulent, expressive and enticing, this wine is only beginning to reveal itself now and will benefit from three to eight years of proper cellaring.

Wine Advocate

The entry level 2008 Pinot Noir Premier Cuvee offers up an enticing bouquet of smoke, minerals, spice box (clove and cinnamon), and assorted black fruits. This is followed by an elegant, layered, smooth-textured wine that is packed with flavor in its medium-bodied frame. It has enough ripe tannin to evolve for another 2-3 years and will drink well through 2020.

Score: 91. —Jay Miller, October 2010.

Wine Enthusiast

A fine, elegant Pinot Noir, still in its infancy, with bright cranberry and raspberry fruit taking center stage. A shimmering, vivid, youthful vitality elevates the fruit flavors, with juicy acidity and restrained oak influence. Though this is the least expensive wine in the Archery Summit portfolio, it may surprise those who cellar it. Some extra years in the bottle could bring out unsuspected depth and power.

Score: 90. —Paul Gregutt, June 01, 2011.
