Podere Salicutti Rosso di Montalcino 2004
Podere Salicutti
Made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, estate grown in the Teatro and Sorgente vineyards, at an average altitude of 1,400-1,500 feet above sea level. The grapes are harvested at the end of September and the wine is aged in large, 500 liter French oak tonneaux for 12 months.
This Rosso is deep ruby red in color and offers complex aromas of ripe berries and spice. Full-bodied, lush, and beautifully structured, it more resembles a baby Brunello rather than a traditional Rosso di Montalcino.
Wine Advocate
I highly encourage readers who want to explore the wines of this producer without breaking the bank to check out the superb 2004 Rosso di Montalcino. It is a big, expansive Rosso that provides much pleasure in its cherry and tobacco nuances, offering plenty of style and a level of finesse that gives many Brunellos a run for their money. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2010.

Sustainable practices incorporate organic standards and may exceed them and include ecologically and socially sound business practices such as fair pay for farm workers and energy conservation.
Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
