 Groth Vineyards & Winery was established in 1982. More than 100 tons of grapes from the family vineyards were crushed into the first vintage in 1982. Production increased quickly to 30,000 cases by 1984. In 1985 the Winery deserved, and needed full-time attention from Dennis and Judy. They moved their family to the Oakville property in 1985. The first phase of construction had been completed on the winery in Oakville. In 1989 the Winery was completed. During the years 1985 to 1995, Groth Vineyards & Winery established its reputation as an outstanding producer of Napa Valley Wines. Also, production increased to approximately 40,000 cases annually. As that production increase occurred, Groth Vineyards & Winery began to use all of the grapes from the estate vineyards. Production has increased after 1995 to approximately 50,000 cases annually. These increases were possible because the winery has located some particularly fine Sauvignon Blanc grapes from independent growers and has increased its production for this varietal.
