Pyren Vineyard Broken Quartz Cabernet Sauvignon 2012Cabernet is considered by many in the Pyrenees to be the regions strongest performing variety. Bright crimson-purple. The bouquet is very fragrant and pure, but underlines the question posed by the low alcohol: will the flavors be ripe? Well, it's on the cusp, but has so many good things going for it that it must get the benefit of the doubt. It is beautifully detailed, pure and harmonious, finishing with those dusty/earthy tannins unique to Cabernet.

Forman Chardonnay 2011I don't think I can remember a Chardonnay made at Forman, there are 28 of them, that didn't start out with the pretty yellow-light green hue that this 2011 pocesses. That in itself says something for the consistency of this vineyard and what is done in the winery with these lovely grapes. One of the things I like most about what happens during the process of bringing fresh grape juice to finished wine with this fruit is its subtlety of expression; it never overwhelms, it just politely pleases without interfering with the food it might be enjoyed with. So there we are! The 2011 Forman Vineyard Chardonnay is another in the lineage which clearly states its heritage, it is unmistakably Forman. I love the fresh fruit opening without over-ripeness or obvious woodiness of this wine; it's just nicely ripe Chardonnay. Sur lees aging in older barrels gives it a touch of richness and complexity to the aromas. One also has to love the flavors. Very zesty freshness beautifully frames the fruitiness. This is a classic Forman Chardonnay. It's a baby now and has so many years to develop, too bad there is so little produced.
Chappellet Cervantes Chardonnay 2012A product of the amazing 2012 growing season, this wine is marked by great concentration and definition, as well as elegance and tone. The nose opens with fresh fruit aromas of ripe citrus, nectarine and pineapple, accompanied by notes of vanilla, clove and citrus blossom. Subtle hints of sweet oak and crème fraîche from partial malolactic fermentation add complexity and depth. Though rich and textured, the mouthfeel is perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity. Zesty flavors of citrus, pear and stone fruits fill the palate and resonate on the long finish.
Luke Donald Chardonnay 2011Color: Golden yellow. Aroma: Granny Smith apple and stone fruit aromas, supplemented by a touch of spice and slight notes of clove and cinnamon. Taste: Mouthfeel is medium full, with a nice entrance, broad midpalate, and a creamy, long finish.

Dry Creek Mariner Meritage 2013The grapes for this delicious Bordeaux-inspired blend come from several of our most prized estate and hillside vineyards in the Dry Creek Valley. At first swirl, the wine displays aromas of blueberry, vanilla and cherries. Several more minutes reveal hints of clove, cinnamon, black licorice and mocha characters. The palate has dark berry flavors along with cedar sweetness and cassis. There's a good balance between juicy dark fruit and oak structure. The tannins are soft and supple with a very round and semi oily texture. It finishes with black pepper, boysenberry and a hint of barrel spice. Good acidity will help this wine to age beautifully for years to come.

Hard to describe, but fascinating to taste. While somewhat similar to our 2009s, the 2010s will be a touch deeper and a bit more refined. If you liked the 2009, you'll love the 2010s!

The wine is aged in oak barrels for between16 to 18 months according to the vintage.
Benjamin Leroux Meursault Les Vireuils 2011Benjamin's wines hit you not with brutality but with force. The fascination with Burgundy is a fascination with minute differences, minute detail. From a seemingly uniform bunch of light-bodied wines, a ruby colored milky way, the Burgundy aficionado gradually sees an increasing number of detailed planets, then the planet's satellites, then the geography of each of the planets. There was a seamless transition between Pascal and Benjamin, barely noticeable. Yet, the wines are so unquestionably personal. They once were brilliant, strong and wild, they are now brilliant, forceful and relaxed. I have no doubt that it is both winemakers' dedication to biodynamics coupled with out of the ordinary talent that has allowed such detail to shine.
Olivier Leflaive Bourgogne Aligoté 2014 375mlA touch of butter, notes of cut hay and minerality. A delectable and gourmet wine with fatness on the palate. Pairings: Racy acidity makes this perfect as an aperitif, enjoyed with shellfish or made into the famous Kir cocktail.
Poliziano Mandrone Di Lohsa 2001Powerful yet elegant, smooth yet well structured - Mandrone is obtained primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, with small but vital additions of Alicante, Petit Verdot and Carignano. These last two are essential in giving Mandrone the distinctive Mediterranean character - sunny, clean and definite - that renders it unique and unmistakable.
Toad Hollow Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Concentrated aromas of currant, cassis and loads of red and black fruit invite a first sip of rich layered fruit flavors. Mouth-filling ripe black cherry and plum are in tandem to a playfully soft lingering finish. Light essence of vanilla with cola, spice and toasty oak frame the variety and enhance the fruit.
