Varietals: 100% Garnacha de Aragón, the oldest clone of Garnacha (Grenache) in the world. Garnacha (Grenache) was first cultivated in this northeastern corner of Spain and transferred across the Mediterranean by the Kingdom of Aragón.
Vineyards: Multiple old mountain vineyards (El Plano, Barranco de la Rambla, Cerro Verde, Cerro del Cura, La Laguna) in the towns of Munébrega, Murero, and Paracuellos, Zaragoza, in the south of D.O. Calatayud. Vineyards were planted between 1945 and 1985. Traditional dry farmed viticulture. Organic Gobelet trained vines. Cultivated completely by hand, with minimal human intervention. The majority of the vineyards receive no treatments whatsoever.
Soils: Cambrian-Silurian slate and quartz soils, partially covered by a thin layer of calcareous Mesozoic soil.
Winemaking: Hand-harvested and stored in small 20 kg boxes. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Briefly aged in stainless steel and concrete tanks to soften tannins.
