Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino 2009
|Appellation||Brunello di Montalcino|
Wine EnthusiastElegant and structured, it unfolds with black berry, blue flower, spice and leather aromas. It has dense wild cherry flavors accented with notes of Mediterranean herbs, white pepper, sage and mineral alongside assertive tannins. This should develop nicely over the next few years. Drink 2016-2024.
Wine SpectatorCherry, strawberry and floral aromas and flavors highlight this elegant, firmly structured red. Balanced and long. Improves with air, so cellar short-term or decant now. Best from 2016 through 2026. 1,666 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is a surprising disappointment from an estate that has performed so consistently well over the years. In fact, I wonder if I got a bad batch of samples. For what it's worth, the wine feels flat, mature and oxidative with syrupy aromas of honey and caramel poured over rather lifeless fruit. It sees 39 months of oak. Drink: 2014-2016.
