Ceretto Barolo 2011
|Region||Italy, Piedmont, Barolo|
James SucklingBeautiful, juicy wine with savory, rich and ripe fruit, round tannins and a flavorful finish. Full body and caressing texture. This makes you want to drink it. This Barolo blend is better than the highly touted 2010! Drink or hold.
Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Barolo (with fruit sourced from various vineyard sites and assembled later) is both aromatic and intense. This is a common link that you find across the 2011 vintage with Nebbiolo grape no matter what the desired level of ripeness achieved by the vintner. In this case, the wine shows no jammy, overripe characteristics. Instead, it is well constructed with firm tannins and a thick core of black fruit complexity. This wine made from blended fruit ultimately shows a greater degree of control and management in terms of its ripeness.
Wine SpectatorWoodsy aromas and flavors of eucalyptus, juniper and wild rosemary join forces with tar and leather in this savory, firmly structured red. Best from 2019 through 2028. 4,600 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastAromas of ripe, dark berry, mocha, toast and a whiff of clove lead the nose. The forward palate offers ripe black cherry, fleshy raspberry, vanilla, light oak, coconut and coffee alongside close-grained tannins. A mint note closes the finish. This is straightforward and already accessible so enjoy 2016-2020.
