Front Man groupies rejoice! After a five-year hiatus, this Merlot based beauty returns to the spotlight. The palate plays off of the deep ruby black color and sings with flavors of sweet cherries and vanilla. Keeping it real with earthy notes of cedar, spice and wild blackberries, the stage is set for the elegant foundation of velvety tannins. Power and style round out the performance - you just might want an encore!

Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Proprietary Red Front Man is the Behrens Family Winery's entry into the Merlot sweepstakes. A blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, it offers up a seductive perfume of blueberries, raspberries and a hint of wild flowers. While I'm not generally a great fan of Merlot, this stunning effort displays layers of ripe fruit, lots of complexity, a mouthfilling generosity, and impeccable purity and balance. Leave it to Les Behrens to pull off a world-class Merlot from his camp on top of Spring Mountain. This beauty is already appealing, and should keep for at least a decade. Bravo!

Wine SpectatorAs ripe and jammy as a Zinfandel, this offers smoky baked cherry aromas and soft flavors of berry cobbler, lead pencil and herb. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2017. 196 cases made.
