Planted widely now in many regions of Virginia, Viognier evolves so vividly in our Piedmont terroir that we were the first to abandon oak and malolactic fermentation to reveal the complexity within its warm climate sultriness, and the vitality of middle palate sustaining its floral opulence. A wine of full body and adaptability with game as well as the traditional pairings of fish, shellfish, poultry and Asian cuisine.

Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Viognier Reserve is dry, unoaked and comes in at 13% alcohol. This is the current release. What a beauty. Gentle, absolutely perfect in aromatics, elegance and flavor, this has everything you might want in a perfectly balanced Viognier. Tasty and always lifted, it is delicious in its subtle fashion. As I've said before, Barboursville has certainly proven to me that these can age. But I'm not sure why I want to. They don't gain much by aging and this is just perfect now. It would easily be my pick of Barboursville's whites this issue. It's a very nice bargain, too.
