Raats Chenin Blanc 2014
Wine AdvocateI actually tasted the 2014 Original Chenin Blanc last year as a tank sample and erroneoulsy put it down as "Old Vine" Chenin Blanc. Still, it has a delightful nose with a very pure lemon curd and nectarine-scented bouquet with just a touch of beewax. The palate is very well balanced with punchy, bitter lemon notes on the entry that keeps you on your toes, backed up with some deep leesy citrus fruit and a well defined, quite tensile finish with salted nuts on the aftertaste. Just a superb expression of the grape variety.
Wine SpectatorLively white peach and green almond notes streak along, picking up yellow apple and star fruit hints. Offers a fresh, floral-edged finish. Drink now through 2017. 1,500 cases imported.
