Château Dassault St. Emilion 2012
Wine EnthusiastBarrel sample. This solid wine is dark with tannins and a dense, extracted texture. The palate is weighty with an intensely dry core and a serious, mineral character. For long-term aging.
Wine AdvocateThis property has been on the upswing for a number of years now, and the 2012 Dassault is showing brilliantly. Dense plum/purple, with sweet blueberry, plum and blackcurrant fruit, the wine cuts a broad, full-bodied swath on the palate. It has silky tannins and is forward, seductive and opulent. Drink it over the next decade or more. This is a beauty and a real crowd-pleaser.
Wine SpectatorIntense, with layers of fig, boysenberry and blackberry fruit pumping along, studded with mouthwatering anise and singed apple wood notes. A bolt of graphite takes over on the finish, with charcoal and chalk details echoing through the finish. A touch burly overall, but should soften with cellaring. Best from 2017 through 2025. 6,250 cases made.
