Roserock Chardonnay 2014
Wine SpectatorPolished and refined, with gorgeous pear and grapefruit flavors framed with hints of spice and caramel on the finish, lingering gently. Drink now through 2020. 2,065 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastThe first offering from Domaine Drouhin Oregon's newly-minted vineyard, RoseRock. It's a young, fresh, fruity wine, loaded with flavors of apple, pineapple and light tropical fruits. There's a light pat of butter in the finish. Drink over the next couple of years while the freshness is at its best.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Roserock Chardonnay has a straightforward bouquet that needs more complexity and nervosité to come through. The palate is better with a smooth opening, touches of brioche and smoked walnut here, gently fanning out but not quite delivering the tension on the finish that I was expecting. Perhaps another 12 months in bottle will allow just a little more personality to develop? I'll put a plus sign against my score.
