Spring Valley Frederick 2013
|Appellation||Walla Walla Valley|
Wine SpectatorSolidly built, with juicy blackberry and plum flavors at a core, framed by firm tannins and lively acidity that lift the persistent finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Best from 2018 through 2023. 3,146 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastCabernet Sauvignon (80%) makes up the majority of this wine, with the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Aromas of high-toned green herbs, spice, black cherry and blackberry lead to lively cranberry and cherry flavors. It shows a sense of freshness, though at times it seems a bit green.
Wine AdvocateThe medium-bodied, supple and polished 2013 Frederick (80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc) offers a relatively mid-weight, straightforward style to go with solid fruit, graphite and dried herb aromas and flavors. It's charming, but it needs more mid-palate depth and density. Plan on drinking bottles over the coming 7-8 years.
