Day Sonoma County Zinfandel 2015
This wine is blend of vineyards spanning the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek and Alexander Valley: Gore, El Diablo, Sommer and Ponzo. 10% Whole Cluster and only native yeast is used. Aged 11 months in 10% new, 90% neutral French oak barrique. The 2015 Vintage was extraordinary for a number of reasons. Four years into a drought, vine stress among these old head trained vines was intense. The vintage was early and compact with more even-ripening than is typical for the variety. This provided us with tremendously fresh, healthy and concentrated fruit- leaving us with blessed with little to do in the cellar.
