Santo Wines Santorini Assyrtiko 2017
|Region||Greece, Aegean Islands, Santorini|
Wine SpectatorA creamy, light- to medium-bodied white, featuring a hint of almond blossom wafting through fresh flavors of chopped white cherry and Meyer lemon peel, with a tangy note of fleur de sel. Drink now through 2022. 10,000 cases made, 6,500 cases imported.
Wine AdvocateThe 2017 Assyrtiko, the standard Santorini here, is unoaked and comes in at 13.3% alcohol. Showing reasonable depth for the level and fine balance, this drinks beautifully right now. What it doesn't show is a lot of potential for the future. It's neither as intense nor as big as its siblings this issue, but it's not intended to be. This is the easier-drinker at a nice price. It fulfills that goal very well, adding some distinction to the style.
