Bedrock Wine Co. Old Vine Zinfandel 20182018 was a brilliant year for Zinfandel across California, and this wine reflects it. The 2018 is a blend of 85% Zinfandel filled out with Mataro, Grenache, Alicante Bouschet, Carignan, Petite Sirah and scant amounts of the many other varieties that can be found in California's older, multifarious vineyards. Many of our most venerable vineyards contribute to this wine, including Bedrock, Teldeschi, Esola, Pagani, Papera, Evangelho and Pato filled in with lots from other old vineyards throughout the state. This will provide great drinking pleasure with a decant early on, but as with most iterations of this bottling, will develop nicely for a number of years.
Fattoria di Felsina Berardenga Chianti Classico 2017Ruby red with deep intensity and hue. Fruity, fine and elegant aromas dominated by wild berries, along with array of spicy notes. Fruity on the palate with good tannins and a lingering finish.

Tannins provide structure and vibrancy from the moment of entry all the way through to the finish, enhancing this wine's freshness and calling you back long after you take an initial sip. Endless options for food pairings. It is a perfect complement to richly flavored or spicy foods like spaghetti Bolognese, Asian or Indian cuisine, Mexican tacos or fajitas, smoked meats, and of course, BBQ (meaning pretty much anything that fits on the grill).

Rodney Strong Upshot Red Blend 2016This wine was made to enhance the enjoyment of life in a fun and inviting way. The Zinfandel that comes off one of our estate vineyards, called Hubbard Ranch, starts as the foundation of the wine and gives it a great sense of place. The Merlot adds a sense of sensuality and softness that invites you in to the heart of the wine. The Malbec is the flesh and soul of the wine. It adds beautiful blue and red fruit and contributes to the mouthfeel with depth and texture. The Petite Verdot is the confidence of the blend and adds intensity and complexity. Lastly, because the wine is about enjoyment, I added a splash of Riesling for the fun…It adds a floral high note. The UPSHOT of blending these varietals is a wine that was made to underscore my passion for blending wine, a place that I love, and my enjoyment for this amazing life I get to live.

Charles Woodson Wines Twenty Four Cabernet Sauvignon 2010#58 of TOP 100, Wine Spectator 2014 Only 1,250 cases made Power meets elegance in this well-balanced rendition of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Notes of ripe fruit and dark cherries are offset by aromas of cassis and smoke as they unfold in the glass. Blackberry pie, ripe plum, and cedar flavors turn bright on the palate revealing a strong tannin structure and dense core. The silky mouthfeel is woven throughout each layer before melting into a graceful finish. The 2010 harvest was an exciting one that kept us on our toes by throwing a few curve balls to the valley. After three years on the dry side, we were relieved to have the much needed rainfall, even though it delayed bud break by a few weeks. The cloud cover that stuck around for the beginning of the growing season insulated the valley, eliminating any frost damage, which was an added bonus. Over the summer, temperatures were cooler than normal, dragging out the growing season and causing us all to be extra aware of canopy management so we didn't get surprised with mildew problems. However, thinned out canopies meant little sun protection when temperatures spiked to the triple digits in late August. We ended up dropping some fruit and spending extra time hand-sorting when we got it back to the winery. The extra effort was well worth it as the grapes that remained brought concentrated flavors with a lot of complexity that made one of our best wines to date.
Neal Family Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Growing conditions during 2013 allowed fully ripe flavors to develop along with great chemistry in all of our Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards. This is a blend of Howell Mountain, Rutherford and St. Helena estate property grapes, allowing a mix of various classic Cabernet flavors from valley and mountain conditions. The differences from each site's soil and climate, as well as a range of harvest dates from early September to early October, create a rich and complex wine without having to blend in other varieties. This bottling reminds us of some of our best vintages with comparisons to 2001 and 2002. Coming from a warm and therefore ripe vintage, this year's Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of cocoa, cassis and dark berry fruit plus hints of incense, earth and cedar notes from new French oak. As is our tradition, this is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon with very dark color and a nice concentration of tannin that carries with it a firm, complex mouthful of flavors. The cherry (and surprisingly blueberry fruit) flavors sweetened by a chocolate character make the texture very mouthwatering. We hold the wine in barrel and in bottle longer than most Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon until convinced the texture has evolved and is ready to drink. This is a wine that will be greatly enhanced with decanting at a young age as evidenced by showing even better the day after opening. Additional cellaring will further improve the complexity and structure. The vibrant and nuanced aromas lead to a mouth-filling and focused palate. The palate is supple and refined, with notes of currant, black olive, cassis and forest floor - flavors that exude 'classic' Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The densely textured palate is balanced by its vibrant acidity, fine tannins and a long pure finish. It is a wine of stunning intensity, focus and depth. This wine was aged in 100% new French oak for 30 months prior to bottling, and underwent extended bottle aging in the Jarvis caves prior to release.
Harlan Estate Red 2012Perhaps Robert Parker has said it best: "Harlan Estate might be the single most profound red wine made not just in California, but in the world." Harlan Estate, owned by Bill Harlan, is located in the western hills of Oakville. Harlan is known for its commitment to creating a wine that is a California "First Growth," on par with those of the old world. The entire estate consists of 240 acres, including a homestead and plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Consulting oenologist Michel Rolland and winemaker Bob Levy lead the production of Harlan's wines, producing two Bordeaux-style blends: Harlan Estate's namesake proprietary red and "The Maiden." These wines have been received to great acclaim by reviewers and collectors alike, commanding high prices and a competitive waiting list. Both wines are complex, full-bodied and have the ability to age for decades. With an opulent style, rich with dense fruit and elements of black currant, spice, and minerals, Harlan is both graceful and elegant, ranking it among the top tier of California Cabernet producers.
Frank Family Patriarch Cabernet Sauvignon 201595 Points - Wine Advocate 94 Points - Wine Spectator 90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Since its debut vintage in 2012, the Patriarch has achieved recognition as one of Napa Valley’s greatest Cabernets, most recently appearing on Forbes’ “World’s 30 Best Wines of 2019” list. "We are confident the remarkable 2015 vintage will continue this legacy. Patiently aged for 21 months in French oak, the 2015 Patriarch is a symphony of structure and sophistication, with seamless layers of cassis, spiced plums, leather, and roasted espresso beans." The historic 2015 vintage was one of the smallest harvests in decades, which led to intensely flavored fruit, but smaller yields. As such, the 2015 vintage of Patriarch was the smallest we ever produced. This limited-production wine hails from our iconic Winston Hill Vineyard in Rutherford, where only the very best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are hand selected for this 100% varietal wine.

Trefethen HāLo 2015The 2015 HāLo Cabernet Sauvignon has power, balance, and beauty. Rich, structured and impressively elegant, this wine has exquisite notes of dark cherry and boysenberry accompanied by hints of cedar and Herbes de Provence. The palate is as brilliant as the nose with gorgeous, lush dark red fruit flavors beautifully balanced with vibrant acidity. The finish is enduring and enticingly graceful. Collectors will recognize and appreciate the splendor of what is to come with more time in the cellar. THE VINTAGE : With a warm spring, the vines got off to an early start. The weather turned cool during bloom which impacted fruit set and resulted in fewer grapes per cluster. The size of the crop was further reduced as the dry soils, from a lack of late rains, led to smaller grapes. The weather was warm throughout the summer leading right into one of our earliest harvests ever. The resulting wines are fantastic as the smaller grapes and fine weather contributed to ideal ripeness with very concentrated flavors. 95 POINTS Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine December 2019 93 POINTS International Wine Challenge December 2019
