Vinous

Limpid ruby-red. Aromas of zesty red fruits and pungent flowers are joined by fresh herb, floral and spice nuances that build in the glass. Bitter cherry, red currant and blood orange flavors show fine definition and deepen through the back half. Closes long and energetic, with repeating spiciness and gently gripping tannins that come in late. 29% new oak.

Appealing, well-structured smoky anise and savory cherry flavors build tension toward medium-grained tannins. Best after 2021. 1,050 cases made.

Sharp and tart flavors put an emphasis on the lemony acids. Despite the noted alcohol, this seems to fall on the herbal side to the detriment of fully ripened fruit. Citrus and thin berry flavors are most evident. The wine spent 16 months in 29% new oak.
