Wine AdvocateSan Filippo's 2012 Brunello di Montalcino shows a dark garnet and slightly evolved appearance with amber highlights at the rim. Aromas of dark cherry, prune and dried plum lift from the bouquet revealing a juicy core of dark fruit. In the mouth, the wine shows succulence and softness. These characteristics are in line with the hot vintage that produced dark and plump fruit with immediate appeal. What makes this wine interesting are the extra layers of savory spice it provides on the finish. The results are sophisticated and noble, with cigar ash, mahogany and cedar wood. Drink Date: 2018-2028.
