Fattoria La Lecciaia Brunello di Montalcino 2013
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
|Brand||Fattoria La Lecciaia|
Moderately saturated, bright red. Pungently floral notes complement strawberry, flint, peppery herbs and underbrush. Then rounder and smoother in the mouth, especially with extended aeration, with penetrating, zingy acidity that beautifully frames and intensifies the strawberry and flinty flavors. Nicely savory on the persistent finish.
This opens with red plum, underbrush and culinary spice aromas. The straightforward, savory palate shows red currant jam, tobacco and a touch of thyme. It's already enjoyable, with rounded tannins.
This Brunello is characterized by dried fruit aromas with smoky layers at the back. Pressed cherry and plum remains at the core of this wine, but crushed mineral and dried herb both play important supporting roles. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino shows mid-weight body and moderate length. In fact, the wine ends quite suddenly. Don't wait too long to drink this wine.
