Stags' Leap Winery Napa Valley Chardonnay 2017Our Napa Valley Chardonnay is gently whole-cluster pressed, in order to preserve the fresh, floral aromatics naturally occurring in the fruit. Twenty-five percent of the wine is fermented in stainless steel and remains in tank until the final blend is assembled. The winemaking hand remains light, with twenty-five percent of the wine fermented and aged in new French oak barrels and the remaining fifty percent in seasoned French oak. This specific barrel treatment helps preserve the essential purity of the fruit while adding subtle notes of oak complexity. The 2017 vintage, as usual, did not undergo malolactic fermentation, which helps to further maintain the fruit's natural acidity and aromatic freshness. The wine was bottled after just six months of maturation with a weekly battonage, putting the yeast lees in suspension in order to release subtle aromatics, increase the mouthfeel, and prevent reductive qualities.

The red wine is hand-made and great care is given to the selection afterwards. The grapes are transported in small boxes of 20 kg in order to avoid them being squeezed or oxidation. The preparation of the wine is done in a traditional way: every parcel of vines is separately prepared in small vats of stainless steel or wood with integrated hot and cold regulation. The wine is aged in oak barrels for between 16 to 18 months according to the vintage. It is our foremost principle to produce a wine of excellent quality, sparing no efforts to improve our craftsmanship and expertise continuously.

Benjamin Leroux Meursault Les Vireuils 2011Benjamin's wines hit you not with brutality but with force. The fascination with Burgundy is a fascination with minute differences, minute detail. From a seemingly uniform bunch of light-bodied wines, a ruby colored milky way, the Burgundy aficionado gradually sees an increasing number of detailed planets, then the planet's satellites, then the geography of each of the planets. There was a seamless transition between Pascal and Benjamin, barely noticeable. Yet, the wines are so unquestionably personal. They once were brilliant, strong and wild, they are now brilliant, forceful and relaxed. I have no doubt that it is both winemakers' dedication to biodynamics coupled with out of the ordinary talent that has allowed such detail to shine.
