Nieto Senetiner Don Nicanor Malbec 2016
Wine AdvocateThe 2016 Don Nicanor Malbec is a 50/50 blend of grapes from Luján and the Valle de Uco. It fermented with selected yeasts, and 60% of the wine was put in oak barrels for one year of aging. This wine has changed quite a lot, with the addition of grapes from Uco, harvesting it earlier and making it a lot less tannic and more approachable. It has good balance between ripeness and austerity, with flowers, fruit, minerals, spiciness and just a touch of integrated oak. 600,000 bottles produced.
Wine SpectatorRed raspberry and cherry flavors are finely textured in this crisp style. Forest floor and dried mint notes fill the finish. Drink now. 15,000 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastGaseous aromas of iodine and latex cloud black plum and berry scents. This feels stocky but grabby and obtuse. Limited black fruit flavors are generic and finish hollow despite this Malbec's bold color and weight.
