Intense ruby red with violet nuances. A complex nose with sour cherry, ripe blackberry, and cassis with undertones of cinnamon, nutmeg, and freshly ground pepper. On the palate, soft and fresh, with the alcohol rounding out the harshness of the tannins. Finishes with a long, toasted note. Will age well for more than ten years.

Supple, exuding cherry, blackberry, violet, graphite and tobacco flavors. Succulent, this moves spryly across the palate, ending with a dusting of tannins. Shows fine balance and length. Best from 2021 through 2040. 4,200 cases made, 3,000 cases imported.

The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva is a dark, powerful wine. Black cherry, cloves, licorice, menthol and chocolate bring out darker tonalities of Sangiovese. This is an especially brooding, potent Riserva. I would cellar it for at least a few years.
