The nose immediately releases tones of honeysuckle and strawberry jam, finishing with a herbal tone of rosemary and cypress. On the palate, the power of this wine impresses. There is an explosion of flavors, all framed tightly by firm bright acids. Flavors are dominated by tart cranberries and raspberries, giving way to the ever-elusive lush blueberry tones. The finish is dominated by vanilla bean with lingering black pepper and orange peel. Pairs well with wild boar pappardelle, Asiago, Manchego, roasted chicken and tortellini with Bolognese.

This wine has recently been upgraded from Riserva to Gran Selezione status. The 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Strada al Sasso (100% Sangiovese) is shaped by the excellent growing conditions that characterize this classic vintage. This is a full-bodied expression of Sangiovese with contemporary aromas of black cherry, leather, cigar box, sweet tobacco and toasted espresso. This wine provides sweet tannins and lots of succulent fruit richness on the close.
