Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2018
|Region||New Zealand, Marlborough|
Opens with a grassy, herbal note, highlighting lemongrass and white pepper shadings to the core of lemon, grapefruit and green apple flavors. Shows terrific intensity, especially on the finish. Drink now. 70,000 cases made, 28,000 cases imported.
This wine is showing a lot of reduction at the moment, blanketed in yeasty, sweaty onion and salt notes. Beneath this lies vegetal notes like green bell pepper and snow pea, along with citrusy touches like lemon, lime and grapefruit. The palate is slippery, sliced through with searing acidity and crisp citrus flavors. The finish is slightly bitter.
