Azelia Barolo Bricco Fiasco 2003
Wine AdvocateThe 2003 Barolo Margheria is a new wine for the estate. It exhibits classic Serralunga notes in its dark fruit, iron, leather, tar and smoke. Made in more ample, concentrated style, it has enough fruit to stand up to the tannins and offers a lovely inner sweetness that carries through to the long finish. It is an outstanding effort. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. Azelia remains a great source for relatively well-priced Barolos. In particular, the San Rocco, from a vineyard in Serralunga, is often one of the region's top bottlings as it is again in 2003.
Wine SpectatorAromas of truffle and berries follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with soft tannins and a fruity finish. Turns to cedar, chocolate and coffee. Lacks some definition. Drink now.
