Parusso Barolo Le Coste Mosconi 2008
Wine AdvocateParusso's 2008 Barolo Le Coste-Mosconi bursts from the glass with an exotic melange of raspberries, plums, violets, mocha, espresso and tar. The Le Coste-Mosconi is one of the more muscular, fruit-driven wines in the lineup. It shows a little more French oak influence, but that isn't terribly distracting given the style of the wine, as the flavors marry quite well. Layers of fruit build towards a huge, sweeping finish supported by insistent underlying minerality. This broad, sweeping Barolo is flat-out stunning. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028.
Wine SpectatorRich with cherry, raspberry and floral flavors tinged by licorice and spice, this an accessible wine, despite its fine-grained tannins lurking in the background. Balanced and lively, with a lingering aftertaste of spice and mineral. Best from 2014 through 2028. 250 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastNebbiolo from two vineyard sites (Le Coste and Mosconi) is blended to create a tasty wine with notes of cherry, blackberry and leather. It's silky smooth on the finish despite its young age.
