Le Macioche Brunello di Montalcino 2004
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is a sweet, floral offering redolent of red cherries, spices and herbs. The wine reveals an attractive, layered personality but elements of greenness detract from its overall balance. These high-altitude vineyards appear to have been at a disadvantage in 2004. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019.
This is light for the vintage, with some berry and plum character and cedar undertones on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with firm and slightly austere tannins. A little disappointing. Drink now. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
