2006 marks the 30th vintage for the Robert Keenan Winery and the 6th consecutive vintage of "Reserve" Cabernet Sauvignon. The five new Cabernet clones that were planted as bench grafts in the spring of '98 are now showing their individual characteristics. A combination of tow of the five clones was chosen for the majority of this 100% Spring Mountain cuvee of 500 cases. Clone 15 (47.5%) and clone 337 (47.5%) our tow Bordeaux clones, magically combine to make an amazingly seamless, rich, deep, earthy blend. To bring out more chocolaty and licorice like notes, 5% estate Cabernet Franc was added. Enjoy now or decades from now.

Wine AdvocateMore broodingly backward, tannic, and less revealing, but with high potential is the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (a 500-case blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc). Subtle notions of cedarwood, black currant liqueur, licorice, smoke, and graphite are followed by a wine with abundant tannin, concentration, and structure. Cellar this beauty for 2-3 years, and consume it over the following two decades. (90+)

Wine SpectatorDense and firmly built, yet has a sense of style and plushness. Aromas of red currant, sage and spicy mocha lead to lingering flavors of plum and dried herb. Drink now through 2015. 330 cases made.
