2012 Larner Red Wine: This wine is a blend of Syrah (75%), Grenache (20%), and Viognier (5%). The syrah and viognier were harvested October 20 and fermented together in small bins, with a small amount of the Syrah and all of the Viognier being whole cluster. The Syrah portion aged for 18 months in 80% new French oak. The Grenache spent 18 months in neutral French oak before everything was blended. The wine offers black currants, cracked black pepper, charcuterie, and white flowers. The mouth is rich yet very lively, with an ample supply of soft tannins and a long finish. 50 cases produced.

Wine AdvocateThe first red wine from Site Wines, the 2012 Red Wine comes from Ballard Canyon and is 75% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 5% Viognier that saw a touch of stem inclusion and 18 months in 75% new French oak. It's inky purple color is followed by gorgeous notes of blackberries, licorice, vanilla bean and smoked meats. Full-bodied, pure, elegant and layered, it's a stunning Syrah that has fruit, texture, structure and elegance. Give it a year and drink bottles through 2024. Bravo to winemaker Jeremy Weintraub for a terrific wine.
