Our flagship wine, result of the old vineyards planted almost 90 years ago by Celso Abbona, comes in its 2021 expressionwith some news. One concerns the UE organic certification for the first time on the label: after 20 years of running the vineyard according to these criterias we finally decided to report it. Second news is instead the use of 70 Hl oval-shaped concrete and clay tanks for the ageing. The stone has a porosity that guarantees a micro oxygenation pretty much like the one oak allows, giving greater expressiveness and evolution to our Dolcetto without however releasing any oaky notes. We therefore have a great vintage of Papà Celso with its remarkable structure, softness and complexity that make it very enjoyable right away but also capable of aging for years.
The 2021 Dogliani Papà Celso is packed with the essence of blueberry jam, incense, licorice, tobacco, chocolate and scorched earth. Inky and opulent to the core, the 2021 is once again one of the most heady, exotic wines in Dogliani, a true original. Give the potent tannins a year or two to soften.
Though lush in texture and laced with blackberry, blueberry and plum flavors, this red is also vibrant and almost glycerine in texture. Shows fine balance and length. Drink now through 2027. 3,120 cases made, 100 cases imported.
