Grapes for this wine were sourced from Napa Valley's Oak Knoll district, which includes two family vineyards. The area's cooler weather, along with crop thinning and gravelly light soil, creates ideal conditions for producing a rich, distinctive Merlot. This wine is lush and supple on the palate, with expansive, dark berry flavors, a fresh earthiness and smooth, leathery tannins.

Sans Liege Cotes Du Coast 2017Daylight wanes and a new energy pulses through the redwoods. As the lanterns are lit you take in scents of honeysuckle, lemongrass tea and shale. You are now dancing and laughing with mirth as you pass by a rustic dessert table. It is set with creme brulee and miniature vanilla spice cakes adorned with orange blossoms. Children run past snacking on jazz apples and dried pineapple and you smile with gratitude for the day.
Patron ReposadoAged at least two months for smooth taste with a hint of oak flavor. Light amber tint. Aromas of oak wood and fresh agave. Tastes of fresh agave and oak with notes of fruit citrus and honey. Light floral notes and vanilla on the finish. Patrón Reposado is handcrafted from the finest 100% Weber Blue Agave and is carefully distilled in small batches at Hacienda Patrón distillery in Jalisco, Mexico. It's then aged in a variety of barrels for three to five months.
Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne 2012Le Vigne Barolo interprets the ancient handed-down wisdom and tradition of Langhe and Barolo of assembling the Nebbiolo grapes from various vineyards. We interpret this historic practice by working only with indigenous yeasts and by keeping the grapes of each vineyard separated during the fermentation and wood ageing, rather than combining them during fermentation.
Sans Liege The Offering Red 2016#20 - Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2019 When you arrive the celebration is raging, much like the huge bonfire in the center of the crowd. You are met with scents of anise, mulling spices, kirsch and leather. A friend claps you on the back and hands you a bowl crafted from juniper proclaiming “wassail!” “Drink hail” you chorus with the rest of the group, taking a gulp and passing it on. Treats of olive tapenade and plums with cinnamon are shared as the merriment continues into the night.

Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir 2017This wine exemplifies the Willamette Valley style opening with aromas of strawberry, raspberry, florals and earth to create an elegant bouquet. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and offers flavors of cherry, orange spice, dried herbs, bergamot and cedar around a frame of soft tannins and balancing acidity. This wine will pair beautifully with classic Pinot Noir dishes including Oregon lamb, steelhead, duck, pork, mushrooms and aged cheeses.

Bodega Benegas Ataliva Malbec 2017Like so many Malbecs, Ataliva is a big red wine, but nluike many, it doesn't finish sweet. There's enough structure to balance the fruit and ripeness and subtle earthy elements lend a welcome savory aspect. Food Pairing: Drink it with burgers on the grill or a hearty meat or pasta dish.
Poggio San Polo Brunello di Montalcino 2013Intense ruby red in colour with garnet hues, clear and glossy. The bouquet exhibits typical aromas of violets and small red berries. Subtle nuances of forest undergrowth, aromatic wood, a touch of vanilla and jammy mixed fruit then give way to subtle hints of coffee. This Brunello is intense, persistent, broad and heady. Full-bodied and warm on the palate, with a densely-woven texture and robust body, it has a persistent finish with well- rounded tannins. The particular features of the terroir at San Polo produce a Brunello with a capacity for lengthy ageing, while patient cellaring enhances the wine during ageing in the bottle. Food Pairing: The elegance and harmonious personality of this wine enables it to pair extremely well with highly-structured cuisine such as red meats and game, as well as with mushrooms and truffles. It is ideal with matured cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano and Tuscan pecorino.

Bodegas Muga Rioja Riserva Unfiltered 2015This wine is ruby-red with glints of brick-red and a medium-high depth of colour. Dense legs which provide you with a sequence of patterns around the sides of the glass. Initially you can find notes of red fruit aromas such as blackberries and reminders of spices. This is all well balanced by smoked aromas from its time in wood which had received a light-to-medium toas- ting. A subtle vanilla pod aroma coming through with roast coffee nuances. A smooth, mellow attack, with tannins wrapping the sides of the mouth with hints of menthol. In the finish the interesting lingering persistence is worthy of note. Food Pairing: You can pair this wine with veal, Iberian ham and charcuterie and some kinds of stews and hotpots.

We are thrilled to have released the full lineup of our "Higher Education" series! With each exceptional vintage, we will explore a specific sub-appellation in the Napa Valley and showcase its uniqueness, finesse, and power. For the 2014 vintage we focused on Howell Mountain, specifically a vineyard farmed by the renowned winegrowers of Ladera. Over the past 20 years Ladera has earned a reputation for growing some of the greatest Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons. Ladera has been a champion of a balanced expression of Howell Mountain, where smooth structured tannins, excellent natural acidity and layered complexity adds sophistication to the intensity of mountain fruit. In keeping with the years of tradition established by our flagship brand Educated Guess, these Reserve Cabernet Sauvignons answer to the names of The Scholar, The Graduate, The Valedictorian, and The Ph.D. All were aged in Seguin Moreau and Francois Freres French oak barrels for 24 months and classically showcase the rich soils and unique micro-climate conditions of the vineyards. Our Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons are elegant and balanced and individually express delicious dark red fruit, cocoa and rich layers of oak. The Scholar: The 2014 Scholar a wonderful wine that begins our reserve wine series, blending 90% Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Coombsville Merlot. It is a beautifully crafted wine that bursts from the glass with intense black cherry, currant liquor, mocha, and crushed violets. Concentrated flavors of exotic spice and roasted sage pair amazingly well with tiers of freshly crushed black and blue fruits. The small touches of Merlot provide just the right amount of grace and softness to create refined tannins and a long lasting finish. The Graduate: The 2014 Graduate is composed of 95% Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3% Coombsville Merlot. Always our favorite in our blending sessions, it offers seductive aromas of wild fruits, cassis and warm blackberry pie that invites you in for more. Hints of freshly shaved chocolate, pencil shavings, and ripe fruit compote mesh well with soft robust tannins that provide for a mouthwatering finish. The Valedictorian: The 2014 Valedictorian is a fantastic blend of 85% Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Coombsville Merlot. Deep, brooding flavors of preserved plum and blackberry pie are accented perfectly with hints of cedar and mocha. Layers of minerality, graphite, and wild berries make this a rich and full-bodied wine. A splash of Merlot provides a satin-like finish. The PH. D.: The 2014 Ph.D. is the pinnacle of our reserve wine series. A wine for the purist, it is 100% Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a muscular wine that offers a bounty of both fruit and earth driven aromatics. Bursts of black currant and blackberry fruit leap from the glass. Notes of chocolate, graphite, and wild fruit layer themselves together seamlessly. Cocoa and hits of oak grace the palate as tiers of rich, exotic flavors unfold, providing a satisfying backbone.
Trentadue La Storia Petite Sirah 2017The 2017 La Storia Petite Sirah was made by blending together most of our best blocks of Petite Syrah including some Zinfandel and Syrah. Petite Sirah grapes are very sensitive to dry weather conditions which were exaggerated this year due to our deficit irrigation practices. The 2017 Petite Sirah berries were very small and slightly dehydrated resulting in an impressive wine with very dark, opaque color, beautiful nose of concentrated blue berries and blackberries that leads to a full body mouth feel with engagingly soft tannins. After short aeration the nose opens up with the addition of cocoa, slight earthiness followed by brown sugar and a touch of vanilla-contribution of the new oak barrels. Overall the aromas are of fresh dark fruit and very attractive. Longevity, if stored properly, is one of the virtues of this variety and it will give you the most enjoyment in 5-8 years. Cheers!

Aquinas Cabernet Sauvignon 2017The 2017 Aquinas Cabernet Sauvignon offers up aromas of wild fruit, briar patch, plum and blackcurrant. The palate opens to a juicy, lush, medium-bodied mouthfeel where the aromas ring true with bright fruit character and crushed herb, pencil shavings and spice flavors. The wine is a cooler climate style; elegant with a rich texture and integrated, smooth tannins. With 12 months of aging in primarily American oak and some French oak, the Cabernet Sauvignon is well-balanced with good acidity and a lingering, flavorful finish. This satisfying wine is pleasant to sip on its own or pairs well with a variety of foods including grilled rib eye steak or roasted leg of lamb.

Very ripe, fine tannins and balanced acidity create a rich, velvety texture that leads into an extremely long finish. The exquisite balance in this wine makes it a very versatile food wine, but it pairs exceptionally well with red meat dishes and other savory fare.

PlumpJack Merlot 2012Our Merlot vineyard sits in the Oak Knoll region of the Napa Valley, and is nestled up to the Mayacamas Mountain Range on the west side of the valley. The mild climate and alluvial soils lend this wine great balance. The mild temperatures allow these grapes to develop rich raspberry and black cherry aromatics that are layered with chocolate and a touch of smoke imparted by our barrel aging. The alluvial soils help to bring darker fruits to the nose and give this wine a full, robust, and concentrated palate, while the mild climate gives this wine an elegance and a wonderful natural acidity that lifts this wine from start to finish.
Eric Kent Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2012Our 2012 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay showcases the citrus side of the grape, balanced and food friendly, yet seductive in texture. With only 10% new oak, this is often our go-to dinner wine and makes its case on naturally derived, mineral-driven intensity straight from the vineyard.
Luke Donald Chardonnay 2011Color: Golden yellow. Aroma: Granny Smith apple and stone fruit aromas, supplemented by a touch of spice and slight notes of clove and cinnamon. Taste: Mouthfeel is medium full, with a nice entrance, broad midpalate, and a creamy, long finish.
Carte Blanche Chardonnay 2012The 2012 Chardonnay is full of bright fruit and savory notes. Lychee, Bosc Pear, fresh lemon curd and oyster shell mingle on the nose. The palate entry is defined and focused, showing silky tannins that highlight piecrust, Meyer lemon, brioche and crème brulee, while the broad mid-palate leads to a clean and persistent finish.
Andrew Will Ciel du Cheval 2011Like the previous vintage, the Ciel does not possess any Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend. The wine exhibits hints of damson plum skin, smoke, cardamom and cinnamon. As the wine opens up a secondary layer of minerality reminiscent of river stones emerges. There is a light sense of earth combined with a spiciness that lends itself to a very complex mid palate. The bright, yet focused tannins create a approachable wine that will only become more complex with time.
Rodney Strong Upshot Red Blend 2016This wine was made to enhance the enjoyment of life in a fun and inviting way. The Zinfandel that comes off one of our estate vineyards, called Hubbard Ranch, starts as the foundation of the wine and gives it a great sense of place. The Merlot adds a sense of sensuality and softness that invites you in to the heart of the wine. The Malbec is the flesh and soul of the wine. It adds beautiful blue and red fruit and contributes to the mouthfeel with depth and texture. The Petite Verdot is the confidence of the blend and adds intensity and complexity. Lastly, because the wine is about enjoyment, I added a splash of Riesling for the fun…It adds a floral high note. The UPSHOT of blending these varietals is a wine that was made to underscore my passion for blending wine, a place that I love, and my enjoyment for this amazing life I get to live.
