Still very young, this wine is ripe and richly textured, with some fine potential for aging. The black fruits shine through the mineral texture and tannic structure to give a wine that is already hinting at the fruitiness of the future. Drink from 2022. Organic.

The 2019 Altano (the regular "red label" if you want to quickly distinguish it from other Altanos in the brand) is a blend of 40% Touriga Franca, 30% Tinta Roriz and 30% Tinta Barroca aged for four months in an 80/20 mixture of used oak (mostly French) and stainless steel. It comes in at 13.8% alcohol. This seems a bit slight in the mid-palate, but the fruit shows reasonable concentration. There's certainly plenty of flavor but always dry and controlled. The texture is caressing, and there's precision here as well. It's not, in other words, a flabby and candied low-end wine. It seems serious, if approachable very young, and not likely to develop much. It is a nice value at the price point, but drink it very young no matter how long it theoretically lasts.
