Educated Guess Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
Wine SpectatorA seductive style highlighted by jazzy oak that casts off vanilla, mocha and hazelnut notes, with a trim beam of zesty blackberry and firm tannins underneath. Ends a bit clipped but is solid from start to finish. Drink now through 2025. 95,000 cases made.
Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Educated Guess is in bottle and is a blend of mostly Cabernet with some Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. This is a nice little wine for the price, better built and more balanced than the more expensive Cabernets, although it's nothing to get excited about. It is pleasant, straightforward and best drunk over the next several years.
Wine EnthusiastWhile the majority of the grapes for this wine are from Napa, small additions come from Lake, Sonoma and Solano counties. It holds a healthy dose of Merlot too. Simple in richness and ripeness, its flavors highlight bacon and charred oak, the tannins dusty and firm.
